Bleachmouth Postscript
The Postscript features rambling, off-the-cuff discussions with friends, musicians, writers and artists of all types about 5 records (or songs) they love. You’ll hear some hot and not-so-hot takes, as well as strongly held opinions and harsh criticisms. You’ll also hear much milder opinions along with facts and factual errors of all kinds. But hey, it is all about having fun conversations, as well as discovering new music and old gems, hidden or otherwise.

"I have to go pee."
I’ve known Shaun for a minute which is why I feel so bad that it took so long to get the episode out. But, it is worth the wait! You may have heard some of the bands Shaun’s been in or seen some of his artwork on some notable records. He is also opening his own print shop in Cleveland called Outside Graphics. Shaun is a fun dude and I enjoy our infrequent, but always rewarding conversations. Here’s some of what we go into;AC/DC, Metallica, Klaus Nomi, GG Allin, Carnivore, Easy Action, Laughing Hyenas, H-100s, Raw Power and 45 Grave.

"Rust Belt"
Chris Wyatt is a co-host for the Buffalo based, Buffalo centric podcast “Nickel City Soundtrack”. I met Chris is either 1990 or 91 during my time as a writer for Crunchface Fanzine. Chris was a part of Crew Cutt Fanzine and was traveling from Buffalo to Chicago when he stopped in Akron to hang out. We hit it off and have been friends since.
This one has a lot of Zero Tolerance and sneaker talk, but we hit quite a few other points as well;
Merauder, Jesus Christ Superstar, Violent Femmes, All Else Failed, Cold as Life, Fudge Tunnel, Murder Suicide Pact, Failure Face, Nine Inch Nails, Slowpoke, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, NY Wolfpack, All Else Failed and Warthog.
This is Part 2 or 2.

Monday Mar 17, 2025
Monday Mar 17, 2025
"Will you be my Yoko?"
Anne Lillis is the drummer for the amazing Safe Words and the equally great, but totally different Beyonderers. Since the original publish date of the interview, Anne has joined the Surfrajettes. But, I originally met her when she was in the band As If and our paths have crossed numerous times since. Anne has toured extensively with Jessica Lea Mayfield as well as Samantha Crain.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing Anne out and about and thought she’d be perfect guest for an episode. I was correct in my thinking.
Here are some of the artists that pop up in our wide ranging conversation; The Pretenders, Can, Howlin Wolf, Tanya Tucker, The Everly Brothers, The Shaggs, Gregg Allman, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, The Dirty Mac, Don Covay and The Ronettes.

Wednesday Mar 12, 2025
Wednesday Mar 12, 2025
"I'll take 'DJs and Turntablists' for 500, Alex."
Floco Torres is a prolific Akron based MC/Lyricist that released his most recent LP "This Creative Life" a life close to six months ago. I wasn't late to the game on his music, but I was lagging behind on getting him as a guest. In any case, it was worth the wait as we go deep in the weeds about a lot of stuff, but most importantly, Chaka Khan. It a longer discussion, but well WELL worth your time.
You can check out all of Floco's music on Spotify and keep up with him here;

Episode 34: Five and Change "Marc's Mix Tape"
Thursday Feb 13, 2025
Thursday Feb 13, 2025
"RIP Roswell Kent Junior High"
A few years ago they tore down the building that where I attended Junior High School. It brought back a ton of memories, particularly involving music. It was there that I really started to take ownership of music and there was a particular mix tape that helped me along my way. I recorded this "Five and Change" episode to document some of my thoughts. Sound quality be damned, I've republished this for posterity.

"Cousteau'd - Deuxième Partie"
Marc and Tim join me as we do a deep dive on the classic "Slave" Lp by hardcore legends Infest. Of course we used the scientifically accurate "Shedd Method" to pick this one apart. We tried to keep this one as short as the songs on this record, but there was a lot to cover!Enjoy!

"Voivod - Forever and ever and ever"
I have know Dave and Matt for years. Longer than most people in my life. The one constant aside from their friendship is that we are always talking about music. Most of these discussions occur at Dave's record store, Square Records. It made sense to do and interview with them together. I am pretty sure that this was the first live interview I had done for the podcast. In spite of the dodgy sound quality, this is one of favorite conversations recorded for the podcast. Enjoy.
Oh - This is Part 2 of 2.

Episode 94: Jessica Anshutz (photographer)
Sunday Jan 26, 2025
Sunday Jan 26, 2025
"Missing mall anecdotes"
My pal Jess has been taking pictures in, around and beyond Akron for quite some time. Much of her photography captures the decaying remnants of Reagan-era capitalism (malls) and also of our beloved hometown, Akron. But, as I discovered during our talk, she's been going to shows for much longer. We talk about the motivations behind her photography as well music. We've known each other for quite a while and this one was long overdue, but worth the wait!

Episode 2: Malcolm Abrams (writer)
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
"You mean we get to be weird?"
Malcolm Abrams is a writer that I met while he was covering music for the Akron Beacon Journal. Back in the early 2000s, we often had lengthy discussions about music while hanging out at The Lime Spider so it only made sense that he appear as one of my first guests. This is one of my favorite episode and one that I definitely felt NEEDED to be republished. The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired, but it is worth checking out!

Episode 93: Wes Dodd (The Bics, Strange Division, Real Dogs)
Wednesday Jan 15, 2025
Wednesday Jan 15, 2025
"That riff is nasty, just nasty"
I have known Wes for over 20 years. We first met in the late 90s while our respective bands were playing shows in Akron at Fusion Records, Annabell's, The Lime Spider and The Mantis in Kent. We've done DJ sets together at local dives as well. No matter what the context, we've ALWAYS talked music. Music of all kinds. It took a minute, but I finally got one of these conversations recorded.
To quote a sage, "check it out".

Tuesday Dec 31, 2024
"Apocalypse '24, The Year Was Wack. Except the music"
Out with the old (men), in with the new. It is the end of a long and eventful. There was a ton of great music released so I invited my frends to talk about 5 of their favorite releases of 2024. Along with Rich and Will, I've got my pal Chris Wyatt from Nickel City Soundtrack in addition to a handful of contributions from past guests at the end.
Thank you for listening and have a great New Year!

Dave Neeson is an old friend and one of my favorite people. He is an artist, guitarist for Harriet the Spy and creator of countless zines. We have know each other since 1990. Our respective bands have played countless shows together and with that type of history there is sure to be some GREAT stories.
We cover a lot of ground; comics, old-man punk stories and music. Some of the artists we cover; Armstrong Secret Nine, Black Flag, Unwound, Void, Doom, Sockeye, Stereolab, Huggy Bear, GBH, Daniel Johnston, Chickenhead, Rollins Band.

Episode 90: DJ Foxytrot
Thursday Dec 26, 2024
Thursday Dec 26, 2024
"The Greatness of Patricia Kotero"
My pal Athena (aka Foxytrot) is a DJ with a residency at Baxter's Speakeasy and has DJ'd numerous other places and events in the great city of Akron. We met on a night that I was playing records at Mr. Zubs and I've been meaning to have her a a guest ever since. The question is; why haven't I until now? An even more important question; why was I not aware of Akron's own Ruby and the Romantics prior to this recording?
This was a fun one that was long overdue. Here are some of the folks we talk about- Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood, Ruby and the Romantics, Apollonia 6, Kay Bell and the Tuffs, Bonnie Jo Mason and many more!

Episode 89: Cousteau'd - C.O.C. "Animosity"
Wednesday Nov 27, 2024
Wednesday Nov 27, 2024
"Cousteau'd"
Instead of the guest picking 5 pieces of music, or a draft or me just rambling as I do on the "Five and Change" episodes, I thought I would go with a new format. I wanted to start doing "deep dives" on records that interest me for one reason or another. I went with one of my favorites, "Animosity" by C.O.C. I am joined by Rich and Will for this one and we used a scoring method developed by my buddy Bob Shedd.
As usual there are a lot of detours. Not only do we talk at length about C.O.C., but we also name check Alienator, Crumbsuckers, The Accused and a few others.
We had a good time recording this one - I hope you enjoy it as well.

Episode 88: Marc Sabo (Orion's Sword/Excised & Anatomised podcast)
Sunday Nov 10, 2024
Sunday Nov 10, 2024
"Looking for that sponsorship"
Marc Sabo is the bassist/vocalist of the doom project Orion's Sword. He is also responsible for the Excised/Anatomised podcast. Each season on his podcast Marc dissects and discusses a band's catalog at length. I appeared on the season dedicated to Prong. He has since returned the favor and made an appearance on the Postscript twice. This is a conversation recorded BEFORE his prior appearances but not edited until recently.
We talk a lot about cover songs on this episode - Creedence Clearwater Revival, Memphis Minnie, Intronaut, Crowbar, Coalesce and many more.
You can find Excised/Anatomised on various podcatchers and Marc's band here-orionssword.bandcamp.com/

Thursday Nov 07, 2024

"Total Cat Failure"
Gavin is a lifer. Whether as a musician (Absolution, Burn, Canonized, NY Hoods, Die 116) or as a martial artist, he has demonstrated a high level of dedication to his craft. Which, made him a perfect guest for the podcast! I mean, folks that are in it for the long haul SURELY have opinions on music (and other topics). Gavin did not disappoint!
We had a pretty fun and vigorous conversation that covered a lot of ground; AC/DC, Bark Market, Lunachicks, The Bar-Kays, Little Walter, Hayes Carll, Steely Dan, Aerosmith, The Cure, The Smiths, Nausea, Barry Crimins, Foetus/JG Thirwell.
