Bleachmouth Postscript
The Postscript features rambling, off-the-cuff discussions with friends, musicians, writers and artists of all types about 5 records (or songs) they love. You’ll hear some hot and not-so-hot takes, as well as strongly held opinions and harsh criticisms. You’ll also hear much milder opinions along with facts and factual errors of all kinds. But hey, it is all about having fun conversations, as well as discovering new music and old gems, hidden or otherwise.

"He's a creepy kid that likes teeth"
DX Ferris is a native of Pittsburgh and Akron based author that covered local and national music in Scene magazine. He has had work published in Rolling Stone, Decibel, AV Club and The Village Voice. Ferris is also the author of Good Advice from Good Fellas, Good Advice from Professional Wrestling and his regular comic strip Suburban Metal Dad. Additionally he authored an extensive biography about Pittsburgh legend Donnie Iris and the Cruisers as well as the 331/3 edition that covered the making of Reign in Blood. Plus, he wrote the in depth biography "Slayer: 66 2/3: The Jeff & Dave Years". And if that weren't enough, Ferris has a podcast called "Talkin' Slayer". I always love it when we get a chance to hang out – even if it is virtually. We had a great conversation about a ton of stuff! Enjoy!
Here’s some of what we cover;
Public Enemy, 3rd Bass, Fistula, Grief, DRI, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, DEVO, Whitesnake, Slayer and Eric B. & Rakim.
You can listen to "Talkin' Slayer" on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Friday Nov 10, 2023
Friday Nov 10, 2023
"Things can only get better"
Mikey is one of my favorite people. As bandmates in Persistent Aggressor we would often talk music before (during) and after practice at length – it was always a good time. So it only made sense to have him on! Warning. For those of you with sensitive souls that can’t handle real talk about pay-to-play veunues/shows and shitty promoters that make bands sell tickets – this episode is not for you. You can listen if you want, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.
What else do we ramble on about?Repulsion, Trap Them, Killswitch Engage and Howard Jones, Heartsounds, Carcass, Nasum, Morbid Angel, Bloodthirsty Butchers, Metallica and lots more!

"Fried Pickle Flavored Cashews"
Aaron Stefanko is the vocalist and one of the guitarists in the Akron band The Bics (formerly White Lighter). Aaron and I have known each other for a while, crossing paths periodically over the years, but have hung out more frequently in recent years. I figured it was time to sit down with Aaron and record one of our conversations. We cover a lot of stuff but I think it is clear that The Mummies rule.Who are the other bands we chat about? Kiss, The Seeds, King Kahn and the BBQ Show, Buck Owens, The Dirtbombs, Uncle Scratch’s Gospel Revival, Redd Kross, Jay Reatard and Kim Fowley.

"Apparently, I'm buying everything"
This is Part 2 of my conversation with my buddy Matt Sorg. We talk about a lot of music, but go deep on Alice Cooper and Voivod as well as Metallica, Mercyful Fate and of course KISS. It’s a fun and long conversation that was way overdue!
Since the release of this episode, Ringworm has released a new album on Nuclear Blast, titled "Seeing Through Fire". It is a great record and is further proof of my assertion that Ringworm is the most consistently great band from Cleveland.

"Wednesday is the new Tuesday"
Gavin is a lifer. Whether as a musician (Absolution, Burn, Canonized, NY Hoods, Die 116) or as a martial artist, he has demonstrated a high level of dedication to his craft. Which, made him a perfect guest for the podcast! I mean, folks that are in it for the long haul SURELY have opinions on music (and other topics). Gavin did not disappoint!
We had a pretty fun and vigorous conversation that covered a lot of ground; AC/DC, Bark Market, Lunachicks, The Bar-Kays, Little Walter, Hayes Carll, Steely Dan, Aerosmith, The Cure, The Smiths, Nausea, Barry Crimins, Foetus/JG Thirwell.

Episode 09: Jason Sparkes (Soul Charge, Unblind, Run Devil Run), Part 2
Friday Nov 03, 2023
Friday Nov 03, 2023
"An unhealthy obsession with Tomas Lindberg"
Jason Sparkes is the guitarist for the Cleveland based hardcore band Soul Charge, as well as Run Devil Run and is an all around nice guy. He originally hails from Newark, Ohio where he first became involved in music. We talk about his influences and dance around a long, boring story to be told in another place and at another time. As the kids say, “we’re dusty” and talk about the differences between punk, hardcore and metal. Spoiler alert: We ultimately come to the conclusion that none of it matters. Listen anyway because it is a fun conversation.
Some of the bands we hit: Sick of it All, Testament, Skitsystem, Entombed, Metallica, Bad Brains, Beyond, Burn, Inside Out, Danny Elfman, Born Against, Minor Threat, Sepultura, and DRI.
Soul Charge have a new record due out very soon, but have their promo titled "Promo MMXXIII" up now. You can check it out here- soulchargehxc.bandcamp.com

Friday Nov 03, 2023
"Two Verbose Dudes"
This was the VERY FIRST EPISODE of Bleachmouth Postscript! It featured Jason Luchka, bassist of Deathcrawl, Supercorrupter, and former program director of the legendary radio station V-Rock. Jason also keeps up a really great music blog (also named Supercorrupter) and has released a compilation/4-split Lp called "Ohio Is Not All Bad".
It's a rough, but fun listen as you can hear me trying to sort out how to do a podcast and we cover a lot of ground this episode.
Bands/artists you’ll hear about in this episode:Clutch, Neurosis, Skinny Puppy, Warzone, Keelhaul, False Hope, Munly Lee Lewis and the Harlots, Sixteen Horsepower, Lozenge and Deadguy.

Kat was the vocalist for the great political hardcore band FAIM (who sadly, as of this new publish date, played their final show) and former co-host of the podcast Double Dare Ya. Thursday Nov 02, 2023
Thursday Nov 02, 2023
"False Hope, The Heart of it All"
Brian was the bassist for Boston hardcore band Ten Yard Fight and is a frequent contributor to the 185 Miles South podcast. Hardcore-punk is a small world? Sometimes… Brian and I have been in the same room countless times, we have a million mutuals and have been “followers” of each other on social media, yet had never met until we did this episode. I am finally glad we did! This is a fun episode where Brian and I got to talk about Ohio, teaching (off mic) and gush over the legendary False Hope as well a few other bands; Project X, False Hope, Agnostic Front, Cro Mags, Weirdos, Negative Approach, 7 Seconds, The Cure, Black Sabbath and Tragedy.

Thursday Nov 02, 2023
Thursday Nov 02, 2023
"Who doesn't like skulls?"
Max Ward is a prolific drummer and all around good guy. He is also the head honcho at 625 Thrashcore a DIY record label which has been around for well over a minute. He currently resides in Japan so it took us a minute to connect. But, it was definitely worth the effort! We had been trying to pull this together for a little while and finally…we got our shit together. I’ve been acquainted with Max since the 90’s and it was nice catching up with him. We talked about a lot of bands. All of the fast variety; Napalm Death, Infest, Brain Death, S.O.B., Suicidal Tendencies, Heresy, Hatred Surge, Youth of Today, LARM and much more! All go, no slow!
Here's the link to his label.
